Tipping Culture in Cambodia: When, Where & How Much to Tip

·

Unlike some countries where tipping is expected, tipping in Cambodia is generally appreciated but not mandatory. Good service is often rewarded with a small tip, especially in tourist areas such as Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville.

If you're visiting Cambodia for the first time, here's what you should know about local tipping etiquette.

Is Tipping Common in Cambodia?

Yes—but it's voluntary.

Cambodians traditionally do not have a strong tipping culture, but tourism has made tipping increasingly common. Staff in hotels, restaurants, transportation, and tour services often appreciate tips as recognition for good service.

A simple "Orkun" (អរគុណ), meaning "Thank you," is also highly appreciated.
